Dr. Stephan Teipel

Dr. Stephan Teipel is a German and European Patent Attorney since 1997 and in 2002 joined the office Lederer & Keller as partner. He is a qualified chemist and specialized in intellectual property rights in pharmaceutical and inorganic chemistry matters. Moreover, he has extensive practice in trademark law.
Dr. Teipel has broad experience in patent prosecution before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. A particular focus of his work lies, apart from preparing patent applications, in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office and nullity proceedings before the German Patent Court and the Federal Supreme Court. He prepares opinions in potential patent infringement cases and advises clients with regard to the most appropriate strategy to fight in German and international patent infringement proceedings.
Dr. Teipel studied chemistry at the University of Münster, where he graduated in 1993. He worked as research associate at the University of Toledo, Ohio, USA. He received his training in an internationally operating patent law firm in Munich, at the German Patent and Trademark Office, at the Federal Patent Court and at the District Court (Landgericht) in Munich.
Dr. Teipel is member of the Patentanwaltskammer (German Association of Patent Attorneys), the EPI (Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patentamt Office), of GRUR (German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright), of AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property), of FICPI (International Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys) and of the Division for Industrial Property Rights of the GDCh (Society of German Chemists).
